  • The context of the physiotherapy profession in Canada
  • The significance and value of each Panel member’s area of focus and research relating to the initiative
  • Existing data, research, and completed projects carried out by other industry-related professions which will inform recommendations
  • Review and approval of CAPR’s Request for Proposal (RFP) published in April 2022

What is CAPR “Evaluation Services Re-envisioned (ESR)” Project

The initiative stems from the Innovation Agenda, a strategic five-year plan to ensure excellence in evaluation services. The Evaluation Services Re-envisioned project will begin by gathering data through exploratory research, interviews, focus groups, surveys, and a literature review, and conclude with a set of recommendations to reconceptualize CAPR’s evaluation services.

The Expert Advisory Panel, an ad-hoc committee of nine members recruited to lead exploratory background work and preparatory research for ESR, will consider the data and feedback and prepare recommendations. The members of the Panel bring knowledge and expertise in measurement, assessment, and competence.

Work has begun on the ESR with a consulting firm, CAMPROF Canada, contracted to conduct three pieces of background research (review of research literature, environmental scan, and primary research) on behalf of the Expert Advisory Panel.

Important: Concurrent with the work underway by CAMPROF Canada, the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) will also be conducting stakeholder-wide focus groups this month. CAPR welcomes relevant findings from the CPA project, which is independent of the ESR Project.

CAMPROF Canada – Consulting Firm selected to conduct Background Research

CAMPROF Canada has been selected as the successful consulting firm to conduct three pieces of background research on behalf of the Expert Advisory Panel as described in CAPR’s request for proposals which closed on May 6, 2022. CAMPROF Canada was incorporated in Canada in 2011 and is a federally incorporated pan-Canadian consultancy. It has long, varied, and successful experience with research, program reviews, stakeholder engagement, and professional writing. The CAMPROF team began their work in late May, and a final report integrating the results of all three pieces of research will be submitted in October 2022.

Reports and Recommendations

On October 31st, CAMPROF submitted its final report to the EAP. The Panel is now turning its attention to assessing the findings and developing recommendations. CAMPROF has been retained to facilitate the discussion and provide support for the validation of their draft recommendations and final reporting to the Board of Directors on the EAP recommendations on re-envisioning evaluation services.

Based on the report submitted by CAMPROF, the Expert Advisory Panel will engage in a series of meetings to develop recommendations for review by the Evaluation Services Committee (ESC) and CAPR Board of Directors for approval.
