January 14, 2022

CAPR and the Board of Directors announce the creation of an Expert Advisory Panel on the Future of Competency Assessment. This Panel is an important component of CAPR’s Innovation Agenda.

We’ve been planning since 2018 for a re-envisioning of CAPR’s work so as to not only meet but exceed best practice standards in evaluation services. Innovation Agenda priorities were set in 2019 but development and implementation were delayed by the global COVID-19 pandemic.

We will be selecting eight to ten Panel members from national and international experts in competency assessment and key national and international members of the physiotherapy profession. They will identify resources, lead the collection of data from a broad range of sources, and review results with the goal of developing recommendations for the future of evaluation services offered by CAPR.

The Panel will be asked to ensure that data collection methodology includes the opportunity to gather feedback from the physiotherapy community. We will ask that the Panel’s innovations be grounded in evidence, risk-stratified, and future-oriented. During recruitment, consideration will be given to geographic and socio-historic diversity of the membership in order to capture the broadest perspectives.

The Panel will be convened in February. Recommendations will be prepared for presentation first to the Evaluation Services Committee and then to CAPR’s Board for approval in early 2023. Upon approval, CAPR staff will develop and launch a three-to-five-year implementation plan for what will be the future of CAPR’s credentialling and examination services.

Expert Advisory Panel members are being recruited now. Interested parties can see the Terms of Reference and the background information about the Panel by clicking on the links below.
